A Visit to Montezuma's Well In Arizona...Definitely Worth the Short Drive Off the Highway.

This is an ancient dwelling that was build under the rim at Montezuma's Well, which was a major water source in the desert there.

Montezuma's Well is a huge cavity in the gound with an underground water supply at the bottom, and these steps lead down to the bottom. The sign down there warns visitors to stay on the trail.

This dwelling is near the bottom of Montezuma's Well. It is much cooler here than it is at that other dwelling near the rim.

This lizard was by the trail that leads down to the water inside Montezuma's Well.

Big Lizard Sits in a Tree Beneath Montezuma's Castle in Arizona

This big lizard was below Montezuma's Castle in Arizona. The camera phone was set to automatic white balance but the white background came out warm shifted ... to pink. Was the light distortion due to the light reflecting off the Montezuma's Castle's cliff face?

If you look closely you can see a section of the Colorado River, which formed the Grand Canyon over eons of time.

No photo can do real justice to the Grand Canyon ... you really have to be there.

The Grand Canyon is considered one of the natural wonders of the world...

You could stand in one spot in the Grand Canyon all day long and notice how the view dramaticly changes as the changing position of the sun influences the extent of the shade and shadows that reveal structural detail.

Bridge ... Looking Good by Night.

Photograph I took when I was hiking around in Palm Beach, Florida in December 2013 ... the bridge by night. There were plenty of fishermen on the fishing warf below the bridge. The bridge actually looks more dramatic at night. After this it was a long, dark hike back to the hotel!

Now the Daylight Crossing...Singer Island Bridge for Walking

Palm Beach pix ... You saw the Singer Island bridge sidewalk by night, so this is daylight. It's really kind of cool to hike across, although it may look a bit intimidating to some. Getting good telephoto pictures off the bridge was more difficult that you might think because it was so windy. The wind made holding the camera completely still for the telephoto image more difficult.

Photograph I took when I was hiking around in Palm Beach, Florida in December 2013 ... a golden orb spider. It looks a little scary. I understand that in WWII their silk was considered a possible source of material for parachutes, since regular silk was in short supply during the war.

Photograph I took when I was hiking around in Palm Beach, Florida in December 2013 ... a gecko dashing around on a tree trunk. I saw quite a few of these tiny geckos scampering around on the sidewalk, however it's not that easy to get a good shot because they are very cautious. This one was interacting with another gecko, so ... perhaps it was just distracted long enough for me to get a picture.
